People we assist

Given the Chance supports a range of people, recognising that the best opportunity to build a fulfilling life comes from having a job.

We work with:

  • The long-term unemployed: we work with people who have had difficulty finding work for more that 12 months.
  • Young people: we provide young people with training, skills development and practical work experience.
  • Mature-aged people: older people often have the experience and wisdom valued by employers. Our jobseekers are keen to learn new skills.
  • People seeking asylum: people with work rights are keen to make a contribution to Australia.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders: we support and encourage the aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to participate equally in the social, economic and cultural life of our community.
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds: employers recognise the contribution people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds can make to their workplace culture, their customer relationships and their broader communities.
